NB (98-05) – Engine & Drivetrain

This section focuses on drivetrain upgrades designed to complement the more refined and rigid NB MX-5 platform. While closely related to the earlier NA chassis, the NB benefits significantly from improved mounting stability and controlled drivetrain movement — resulting in smoother power delivery, more consistent shift engagement, and greater confidence under load.

Among the most popular upgrades are our performance engine mounts, which stabilize drivetrain movement while maintaining everyday usability. The beautifully CNC-machined billet differential brace reinforces a known stress area, helping keep the rear drivetrain properly supported during hard driving. Polyurethane differential bushings with bespoke mounts further enhance control by replacing worn factory components with a more precise and durable solution.

Many of these upgrades are shared across the NA platform and NB platform, reflecting their closely related engineering. Within the NB chassis, however, they work together to deliver a more planted, predictable, and refined driving experience — whether maintaining a road car or building a focused performance setup.
